a series of winter storms…
The past week has been ridiculously busy at the Albuquerque Weather Service. A series of upper level storms has repeatedly dumped snow over much of the northwestern half of the state, and a suite of watches, advisories, and warnings have kept things very interesting to say the least. Many of the northern New Mexico ski resorts received between 2 and 3 feet of new snow over the past 7 to 9 days. As is usually the case, Albuquerque received a couple of episodes of 2 to 3 inches of snow with all of it melting within the next 24 hours or so. I trotted out into it Monday night when we received about 3 inches and snapped the following pics.
This last photo below was zoomed out during a long exposure. The indoor scene of our living room is still faintly identifiable. I’ll have to try and use this technique again with a tripod and a different stationary subject.

first snow of the season…
We received 2″ of snow here in the foothills of Albuquerque on Tuesday morning. Some northern sections of the state picked up as much as 14″ from this storm…a welcome site for the ski resorts. Here’s just a few quick pics I snapped.

more home improvements…
We finally feel like we are making some headway on our home improvements. In total, we have finished all four bedrooms: actually the master bedroom, two guest bedrooms, and the smallest bedroom which was made into an office. We opted to give ourselves a break and have the front living room and dining room professionally painted. It was pricey, but well worth it. It would have taken us several weeks to finish what the painters did in just one day. The walls, base boards, and ceilings of both rooms were painted, and now we just have to do a few final touches such as light fixtures. Here’s a few “before” pics on the left column and “after” pics on the right.
The next home improvement task will likely be the master bathroom after the first of the new year.
